The Dead Good Manifesto
Inspired by the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s digital-rights advocacy and solarpunk’s DIY, community-led creativity, we stand for a future that is pro‑human.
We are entangled: We are inseparable from technology, animals, and the environment. Technology should strengthen our ability to think, create, collaborate, and connect in real life.
Live at a human pace: Efficiency isn’t the goal. Create space for boredom, rest, mindfulness, and slowness. Go analog. Go offline. Go outside.
Be the inspiration: AI can only copy us. Be original by pulling ideas from your dreams not data streams.
Celebrate the good: Champion your people. Cultivate emotional intelligence and deep relationships. Consume art and media with intention and attention.
Neurodiversity is not a defect: Neurodivergent minds should be accepted, supported, and celebrated, not suppressed or “fixed.”
Embrace continuous learning: Stay curious. Learn what AI can and can’t do so you can use it to augment your thinking, not outsource it.
Own your digital footprint: Your data shapes how algorithms treat you. Share intentionally. Practice privacy. Choose tools that respect consent.
Support people displaced by AI: Fight for dignified transitions, training, income support, and community care for those affected by automation.
Advocate for responsible AI: Reduce harms in high-stakes systems (war, hiring, lending, healthcare). Demand accountability, safety, and transparency.
Stand up for artists’ rights: Require transparency (training data disclosure), consent (opt-in), and compensation (fair pay for creative work).
Protect privacy and data: Prevent unauthorised disclosure. Require informed consent. Defend dignity and confidentiality by default.
Digital sovereignty: Advocate for breaking the market dominance of US and Chinese tech firms, balancing the benefits of a global internet with the imperatives of democratic governance.
Reject exploitation and oppression: Stand firmly against racism, sexism, ageism, ableism, and every form of structural marginalisation.
